Job Title
IP Design Verification Engineer
Role Summary
Collaborate with architects, RTL developers, and physical design teams to validate IP designs and microarchitectural features. Ensure functional correctness and DFx readiness across pre-silicon validation flows.
This position supports IP integration with SoC teams and contributes to verification infrastructure and methodology improvements.
Experience Level
Mid-level β typical experience guidance: 6+ years with a Bachelor's degree, 4+ years with a Master's degree, or 2+ years with a PhD.
Responsibilities
The role focuses on RTL and gate-level verification, protocol compliance, debugging, and automation of validation flows.
- Own RTL validation for functional and DFx (design-for-test/debug) aspects.
- Define verification strategies, methodologies, and detailed test plans.
- Develop Bus Functional Models (BFMs) to interface with IP and verify protocol compliance.
- Implement and execute test cases, assertions, and functional coverage in SystemVerilog.
- Set up and run gate-level simulations to verify asynchronous and multi-cycle paths.
- Debug failures in RTL and GLS environments, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions.
- Analyze functional and code coverage metrics to identify and close verification gaps.
- Automate pre-silicon validation flows with scripts or tools.
- Collaborate with system and SoC teams on IP integration and issue resolution.
- Maintain and enhance verification methodologies and validation infrastructure.
Requirements
Core technical skills and verification experience required; preferred skills are listed below.
Must-have:
- Proficiency in SystemVerilog and verification methodologies such as OVM/UVM.
- Experience with DDR protocols, particularly LPDDR5 and DDR5, across specification-to-coverage validation stages.
- Strong RTL validation, logic design, DFx concepts, and IP microarchitecture debug skills.
- Experience with industry verification tools (VCS, DVE, Verdi, or equivalents).
- Familiarity with UNIX; fluency in shell scripting and C programming.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience automating verification with Tcl, Tk, Perl, or Python.
- Formal verification exposure and advanced debugging/problem-solving abilities.
- Strong written and verbal communication for cross-functional collaboration.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or advanced degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline. The posting specifies equivalent experience options: 6+ years with a Bachelor's, 4+ years with a Master's, or 2+ years with a PhD.
