Job Title

IO and Mixed Signal Circuit Design Engineer

Role Summary

Join the Mixed Signal and IO Library Development team in Central Engineering to design, verify and validate IO interfaces and mixed-signal cells for advanced ASICs. The role covers circuit design, RTL/digital wrappers, physical implementation interfaces, and silicon validation.

Experience Level

Mid-level β€” posting indicates 5–15 years of hands-on mixed-signal circuit design experience.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include design, verification, and validation across analog, mixed-signal and digital wrapper domains.

  • Design and verify IO interfaces and mixed-signal blocks (e.g., POR, process monitors, voltage/temperature sensors, crystal oscillators).
  • Develop RTL, perform synthesis and verification for digital wrappers that interface with analog circuitry.
  • Coordinate with custom and P&R layout engineers; oversee physical design and verification activities.
  • Create functional models and perform timing characterization of cells.
  • Engage with customers to gather requirements, define specifications, and implement circuit solutions.
  • Develop test infrastructure and generate test vectors to support silicon validation on test chips.
  • Support silicon validation in collaboration with test engineers (ATE and bench testing).
  • Produce documentation: datasheets, application notes, and integration guides.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and practical experience for day-to-day work.

  • Proven analog design experience (PLLs, LDOs, bandgap references, ADCs/DACs).
  • Proficiency with Cadence Virtuoso schematic capture and ADE environments.
  • Strong experience with SPICE-based simulators such as Spectre and/or HSPICE.
  • Experience with LVS/DRC and EM/ESD verification tools (e.g., Totem, Pathfinder, PER).
  • RTL coding, synthesis and verification skills for digital wrappers.
  • Familiarity with physical implementation flows and collaboration with P&R/layout teams.
  • Automation and scripting skills (shell, sed, awk, TCL, Perl or similar) for tool flow and testbench automation.
  • Practical experience supporting silicon validation and working with test engineering teams.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English; able to work across geographies and with customers.
  • Nice-to-have: AMS methodology and analog circuit modeling experience.

Education Requirements

Required: M.S. in Electrical Engineering (MSEE). The posting indicates 5–15 years of hands-on mixed-signal circuit design experience, including work in advanced CMOS process nodes (example nodes cited: 5nm, 3nm).
