Job Title

Applications Engineer β€” High Speed Data Converters (HSDC)

Role Summary

Work with the High Speed Data Converters product line to define and deliver reference designs, evaluation modules (EVMs), and application support that enable customer system integration and product adoption. The role spans hardware, firmware, embedded software, test automation and system-level characterization.

Collaborate with systems, marketing, and cross-functional engineering teams to support product definition, pre-production characterization, and post-ramp customer design-in and troubleshooting.

Experience Level

Mid-level β€” typically requires 2+ years of relevant experience in analog/RF systems, lab automation, mixed-signal PCB work, or system integration.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include building reference designs and supporting customers through design-in and validation.

  • Define and create reference design boards and evaluation modules for systems such as software-defined radio, phased-array radar, wideband signal synthesis/detection, and RF instrumentation.
  • Collaborate on PCB schematic and layout, FPGA firmware, and embedded software needed to complete reference designs and EVM releases.
  • Prepare user guides, test procedures, and package EVMs for customer release.
  • Support early-design activities and provide technical input to product definition and marketing teams.
  • Provide application support to customers: answer technical questions, perform schematic/layout reviews, reproduce and debug issues on EVMs or customer boards, and provide on-site support when required.
  • Drive silicon testing from an applications perspective: develop test plans, verify key features of high-speed data converters, and write application notes describing use cases and implementation guidance.
  • Characterize customer-specific scenarios to ensure system robustness and performance in target markets (Aerospace & Defense, Test & Measurement, Datacenter).

Requirements

Concise separation of required and preferred skills. Degree requirements are listed under Education Requirements below.

  • Must-have: 2+ years of relevant experience in analog/RF systems, SW automation, mixed-signal PCB design, or systems integration; practical experience with PCB schematic/layout review, debugging, and system-level characterization.
  • Must-have: Hands-on lab experience with measurement techniques and interpreting RF/microwave results; ability to reproduce and debug customer issues on EVMs or customer hardware.
  • Must-have: Strong analytical, problem-solving, written and verbal communication skills; ability to work cross-functionally and deliver projects on schedule.
  • Nice-to-have: Experience with FPGA firmware and embedded software, Python-based lab automation, high-speed signal processing (digital up/down conversion, filtering, equalization, beamforming), and RF network matching.
  • Nice-to-have: Familiarity with high-speed interfaces and standards (PCIe, JESD204, Ethernet, HDMI/DisplayPort) and RF modeling tools (e.g., Ansys HFSS, SiWave).
  • Nice-to-have: Prior experience building prototypes using off-the-shelf FPGA EVMs and integrating analog front-end capture cards; domain experience in Aerospace & Defense or Test & Measurement.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical field (BS). The job listing identifies a Bachelor's degree as the expected degree level.
