Job Title

Internship - Product Design Engineering

Role Summary

Intern on the Product Development team supporting NAND memory and SSD (platform) test development for new product introductions (NPI). The role assists engineers with test-plan design, test automation, lab validation, and debugging of storage products and platforms.

Experience Level

Entry-level (Internship). Intended for current undergraduate or graduate students; no prior professional experience required beyond relevant coursework or lab experience.

Responsibilities

The intern will support engineers in test development and NPI activities. Key responsibilities include:

  • Participate in designing functional product test plans for Memory or SSD products (SATA, SAS, PCIe, NVMe).
  • Help define processes, system specifications, I/O and operating parameters for hardware and software compatibility.
  • Design and prototype system interfaces and identify system design weaknesses.
  • Develop and execute test and troubleshooting methods for NPI phases of product development and manufacturing.
  • Prepare test and diagnostic programs, design test fixtures and equipment, and document specifications and procedures.
  • Plan testing schedules, resource needs, and equipment for evaluation of devices.
  • Develop or modify tools and automation using scripting/programming languages (e.g., Python, C++, MATLAB).
  • Use lab instruments to collect data, reproduce failures, and support debug activities.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and attributes for successful performance in the internship:

  • Familiarity with programming or scripting for automation and analysis (Python, C/C++, or MATLAB).
  • Understanding of digital systems, storage interfaces (SATA, NVMe, PCIe), and embedded systems.
  • Hands-on experience with lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, or protocol analyzers.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to test detail and reproducibility.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced development environment.
  • Nice to have: familiarity with NAND Flash memory and SSD architecture.

Education Requirements

Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electronics, or a related technical field.
