Job Title

Internship - NAND Cell Characterization & AI Tools

Role Summary

Join the NAND Cell Team at Micron's R&D site in Vimercate, Italy. The intern will develop AI-enabled tools to automate analysis and processing of micro-probing characterization waveforms to support NAND memory product development.

The role focuses on implementing modular AI components, building comparison engines for waveform delta analysis, producing engineer-ready reports, and integrating human-in-the-loop validation.

Experience Level

Entry-level internship suitable for current students or recent graduates; intended as a training/development position.

Responsibilities

Work with CELL engineers to design, build, validate, and document AI-based waveform analysis tools.

  • Collaborate with CELL engineers to understand micro-probing workflows and waveform semantics.
  • Build modular AI components for waveform ingestion, preprocessing, and feature extraction.
  • Develop a structured comparison engine to perform 1:1 delta analysis against internal reference waveforms.
  • Generate detailed, human-readable reports for engineer review.
  • Implement engineer-in-the-loop (HITL) validation interfaces at critical decision points.
  • Validate tool robustness through test cases and iterative engineering feedback.
  • Document modules, assumptions, and usage guidelines to ensure maintainability.
  • Ensure tasks comply with Micron's Code of Business Conduct and intellectual property guidelines.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills are listed first; preferred skills follow.

  • Must-have: Understanding of AI/ML fundamentals, including LLMs and embeddings.
  • Proficient in Python and/or C/C++ programming.
  • Basic knowledge of signal processing and time-domain waveform concepts.
  • Strong problem-solving, debugging, and communication skills.
  • Nice-to-have: Familiarity with NAND flash operations (program/erase/read; WL/BL bias schemes).
  • Experience with LLM/agent frameworks or orchestration pipelines.
  • Knowledge of waveform processing libraries and oscilloscope data formats.
  • High attention to detail and the ability to work independently or in teams.

Education Requirements

Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field (student/intern status). The posting indicates the role is for students/interns; equivalent practical experience may be considered where the employer permits.
