Internship — Embedded Crypto Software Development (m/f/d)

Role Summary

Work as a student intern on secure, high-performance cryptographic software for next-generation embedded products across payment, identification, mobile, IoT and automotive domains. Join a small engineering team focused on developing and maintaining crypto libraries and implementations for microcontroller-based platforms.

Experience Level

Entry-level internship. Intended for students currently enrolled in university studies; availability ~16 hours per week on average.

Responsibilities

Primary tasks and day-to-day responsibilities include:

• Support development and maintenance of the teams cryptographic software libraries.
• Implement embedded software components in C or Rust for microcontroller platforms.
• Implement or test cryptographic algorithms and primitives as required (DES, AES, RSA, ECC, SHA, etc.).
• Maintain quality metrics and contribute to quality KPIs.
• Work under mentorship, follow secure development practices; some assignments may be security-sensitive and subject to certification processes.

• Must-have: Solid understanding of microcontroller architecture and embedded development concepts.
• Must-have: Valid work authorization for the workplace.
• Must-have: Availability ~16 hours per week while enrolled in studies.
• Must-have: Teamwork, initiative and reliable work habits for security-related tasks.
• Nice-to-have: First experience with embedded C and/or assembly.
• Nice-to-have: Experience or familiarity with Rust.
• Nice-to-have: Prior exposure to implementing or testing crypto algorithms (DES, AES, RSA, ECC, SHA).

Education Requirements

Ongoing university studies (Bachelor's or Master's level) in mathematics, computer science, electrical/electronic engineering, information technology or a closely related technical field. No specific certifications required; enrollment in a relevant degree program is expected.
