Internship: Digital Design Team Support (m/f/d)

Role Summary

Part-time internship supporting the NFC Digital Modem Team to improve automated digital IP integration, verification, and release platforms. Contribute to the development of a CI-based software platform and a command-line interface for FPGA-based prototyping while working across the full development lifecycle with experienced engineers.

Experience Level

Entry-level (internship). Intended for current students or early-career candidates. Availability: at least 20 hours per week, duration over 6 months.

Responsibilities

Primary duties focus on implementing and maintaining software tools and documentation that support digital IP integration and FPGA prototyping.

• Analyze and clarify technical requirements.
• Develop implementation concepts with the team.
• Design, implement, test, and release software solutions (CI tooling and CLI for FPGA systems).
• Maintain version-controlled databases and technical documentation.
• Create and update an online user reference manual.
• Present demos and new features to the team.

Requirements

Core technical skills and personal attributes required; "nice-to-have" items listed separately.

• Must-have: Good knowledge of Linux and shell scripting (Bash, tcsh).
• Programming experience in C and Python.
• Understanding of object-oriented programming and basic software engineering/development processes.
• Familiarity with version control systems (Git, SVN, ClearCase).
• Reliable, security-conscious working style (role may include security-related tasks).
• Nice-to-have: Knowledge of digital design, verification, or synthesis; experience with FPGA programming and testing.

Education Requirements

Ongoing studies in Software Development, Informatics, Computer Engineering, or a related field (student status/internship level).
