Internship - Analog Mixed-Signal Design
Role Summary
Work as an analog/mixed-signal design intern contributing to the design, simulation, and verification of analog and mixed-signal integrated circuits within a semiconductor design team.
The role focuses on op-amp and low-power power-management circuit design, silicon characterization and debug, and automation of design and data workflows.
Experience Level
Entry-level internship intended for current graduate students; professional experience beyond coursework and project work is not required.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include:
- Contribute to design, simulation, and verification of analog and mixed-signal ICs.
- Design and analyze operational amplifiers, including stability analysis and compensation.
- Design low-power circuits such as LDOs and Buck converters with attention to energy efficiency.
- Perform silicon characterization, laboratory testing, and hardware debugging to verify specifications.
- Automate design workflows and data analysis using scripting (Python, Perl, TCL, Shell).
- Participate in team activities including design reviews and technical discussions.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and attributes:
- Proficiency in analog IC design, operational amplifier theory, and low-power design principles.
- Experience with simulation and verification of analog designs.
- Ability to develop scripts for automation and data analysis (Python, Perl, TCL, Shell).
- Strong communication skills, teamwork, and willingness to learn.
- Comfort with hands-on lab work for silicon bring-up and debugging is preferred.
Nice-to-have:
- Prior silicon characterization or test experience.
- Familiarity with power-management ICs (LDOs, switch-mode converters).
Education Requirements
Currently enrolled in an M.S. program in Electrical Engineering or a related field (graduate student status required).
