Intern — Test Solutions Engineer
Micron TechnologyJob Title
Intern — Test Solutions Engineer
Role Summary
The intern will join the Test Solutions Engineering team to complete a structured engineering project focused on semiconductor backend test processes, equipment capability evaluation, software, or operating methodologies. The role emphasizes data analysis, process-performance evaluation, and qualification of new technologies for High Volume Manufacturing (HVM).
This is a full-time internship requiring a minimum 5-month commitment and includes hands-on exposure to manufacturing data, equipment testing, and cross-functional engineering activities.
Experience Level
Entry-level (Internship). Suitable for current undergraduate students or equivalent early-career candidates.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities for the internship project include:
- Study mechanical, electrical, software, and material-interface requirements of backend test equipment.
- Analyze equipment and process indicators (utilization, OEE, MTTR, MTBF) to identify performance gaps.
- Participate in controlled engineering evaluations of equipment capabilities, software functions, and process methodologies.
- Apply structured problem-solving, risk assessment, and FMEA techniques to assess issues and propose mitigations.
- Explore and prototype AI-enabled methods for trend identification, reporting automation, knowledge retrieval, and decision support.
- Produce baseline analyses, data-driven findings, risk/qualification summaries, and recommendations to improve robustness, yield, cycle time, or cost.
- Deliver interim and final technical reports and a presentation (including an AI-enabled proof of concept where applicable).
Requirements
Must-have skills and attributes for successful completion of the internship:
- Strong analytical skills, structured problem-solving, and decision-making ability.
- Familiarity with statistical analysis, data visualization, and programming or engineering analysis tools (e.g., Python, MATLAB, R, or similar).
- Interest in semiconductor backend test processes, equipment, and communication protocols.
- Ability to work in manufacturing environments and conduct controlled engineering evaluations.
- Capacity to commit to a full-time internship for a minimum of five months.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with manufacturing information systems, OEE/MTTR/MTBF metrics, FMEA, or similar engineering assurance methods.
- Familiarity with Generative AI, Large Language Models, or AI-assisted engineering workflows.
Education Requirements
Must be pursuing a bachelor-level engineering degree (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
