Intern - SSD Architecture Modeling

Role Summary

The Architecture Modeling team builds software, modeling platforms, and analytical tools to evaluate and optimize storage system architectures. The intern will develop tools and automation to support architecture modeling, simulation analysis, and performance characterization.

Experience Level

Entry-level internship. 0–2 years of relevant experience (internships, research projects, coursework, or similar).

Responsibilities

Work with architects, firmware, and systems engineers to develop tools and analytics that improve modeling and engineering productivity.

• Develop software tools and automation for architecture modeling, simulation analysis, and performance characterization.
• Create workflows to process, analyze, visualize, and report on large engineering datasets.
• Design dashboards and reporting tools to surface performance trends and anomalies.
• Apply AI-assisted development techniques and automation frameworks to accelerate workflows.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to solve technical challenges and support validation activities.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience for successful contribution during the internship.

• 0–2 years of relevant experience through internships, projects, or coursework in computer architecture, systems software, data analytics, modeling, simulation, or related fields.
• Proficiency in Python, C++, or similar programming languages.
• Strong understanding of software development fundamentals, data structures, algorithms, and debugging techniques.
• Experience working in Linux or Unix development environments.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and clear technical communication.
• Demonstrated ability to leverage AI-enabled tools and large language models (e.g., Copilot, Claude, ChatGPT) to improve productivity.

Nice-to-have:

• Experience with modeling, simulation, performance analysis, benchmarking, or data analytics tools.
• Knowledge of computer architecture, storage systems, distributed systems, or performance engineering.
• Familiarity with data visualization frameworks, machine learning techniques, or AI-assisted development tools.
• Experience with Git, automated testing, CI/CD pipelines, or workflow automation.
• Experience developing production-quality tools, dashboards, or analytics platforms.

Education Requirements

Currently pursuing a Master's or PhD in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.
