Intern - Product Yield Enhancement Engineer

Role Summary

Support Product Yield Enhancement (PYE) activities to move next-generation DRAM devices from design into mass production. The role partners with R&D, Manufacturing, Product Engineering and Global Quality to diagnose failures and improve yield.

This is a hands-on, 3-month internship focused on failure analysis, data-driven root-cause identification, and cross-functional communication of results.

Experience Level

Entry-level intern. Intended for current students; no prior professional experience required beyond academic exposure.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities for the internship:

• Perform detailed DRAM electrical and physical failure analysis.
• Identify defects introduced by semiconductor fabrication processes.
• Data mine and analyze failure data using statistics, AI-assisted tools, and automation workflows.
• Perform root-cause investigations and clearly communicate findings to Management, Product, Process, and Test Engineering teams.
• Complete assigned 3-month internship projects and deliver actionable results.

• Must-have: Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Must-have: Ability to communicate technical findings to cross-functional teams.
• Nice-to-have: Coursework or familiarity with VLSI, semiconductor process, device physics, statistics, and Python.
• Nice-to-have: Familiarity with AI tools and willingness to explore new technologies.
• Nice-to-have: Ability to work effectively in a diverse, fast-paced team environment; self-motivation and enthusiasm.

Education Requirements

Must be currently pursuing at least a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, or Materials Science. Expected graduation date must be September 1, 2027 or later. Coursework in VLSI, semiconductor processing, device physics, statistics, and Python is desirable.
