Job Title

Intern, Product Yield Enhancement Engineer

Role Summary

Support bringing next-generation DRAM devices from design to mass production by performing failure analysis, data mining, and root-cause investigations. Work closely with R&D, Manufacturing, Product Engineering and Global Quality teams on projects that impact yield and reliability.

This is a full-time, 3-month internship at Micron's Boise main site.

Experience Level

Entry-level intern (student). Enrollment in an accredited degree program is required; see Education Requirements for details.

Responsibilities

Typical duties include:

  • Perform detailed electrical and physical failure analysis of DRAM devices.
  • Identify defects introduced by semiconductor fabrication processes.
  • Analyze data using statistical methods, AI-assisted tools, and automation workflows.
  • Determine root causes of failures and document findings.
  • Communicate results to management, product, process and test engineering teams.
  • Complete assigned 3-month internship project(s).

Requirements

Must-have and preferred qualifications (education details are in Education Requirements):

  • Must-have: Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Must-have: Ability to work effectively in a diverse, fast-paced team.
  • Must-have: Good verbal and written communication skills; self-motivation and enthusiasm.
  • Nice-to-have: Familiarity with AI tools and willingness to explore new technologies.
  • Nice-to-have: Experience with data mining, statistical analysis, automation, or Python.

Education Requirements

Must be pursuing at least a Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, or Materials Science. Expected graduation date must not be before September 1, 2027. Preferred coursework or knowledge includes VLSI, semiconductor process, device physics, statistics, and Python. Enrollment in an accredited degree program is required.
