Intern - NAND Device Engineering AI
Role Summary
Join the NAND Device Engineering team as an AI / Data Science intern to develop AI-enabled solutions that automate device characterization workflows, accelerate data analysis, and provide decision-support for 3D NAND technology development.
You will work with device engineers to build data pipelines, machine learning models, dashboards, and Agentic AI capabilities. High-performing interns may be considered for future full-time roles based on business needs and performance.
Experience Level
Entry-level internship. This is a full-time, 6-month internship intended for students or early-career candidates.
Responsibilities
Contribute to development and delivery of an AI-enabled device characterization and engineering workflow platform. Typical tasks include:
- Design and implement automated workflows for device characterization data collection, cleansing, feature engineering, analysis, and reporting.
- Apply machine learning, statistical modeling, and Agentic AI techniques to detect anomalies, classify device behaviors, and identify performance trends.
- Develop data pipelines to integrate characterization and metrology sources at scale.
- Create interactive dashboards, visualizations, and AI-assistant capabilities to support engineering exploration and summary reporting.
- Evaluate Generative AI and large language model approaches for workflow automation, knowledge retrieval, and report generation.
- Deliver software assets, technical documentation, and a final project presentation.
Requirements
Required technical skills and traits for successful candidates:
- Strong programming ability in Python and experience building data analysis or automation solutions.
- Practical knowledge of machine learning, deep learning, data science, or AI through coursework, projects, or research.
- Familiarity with data libraries and frameworks such as Pandas, NumPy, scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch, LangChain, or similar tools.
- Experience or exposure to data visualization, dashboard development, database technologies, or workflow automation platforms is desirable.
- Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving, clear communication, and self-motivation.
- Ability to commit full-time for a 6-month internship period.
Education Requirements
Candidate should be pursuing a Bachelor's, Master's, or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, Statistics, Electrical Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline.
