Intern - MSB Process Integration Engineer
Role Summary
The intern will support a structured project to reduce semiconductor manufacturing rejects by analyzing process variability for Assembly and Test operations. The role sits within MSB Process Integration Engineering and combines hands-on exposure to packaging/manufacturing processes with data analytics and AI-enabled tools.
Experience Level
Entry-level internship. Intended for current undergraduate students; requires full-time availability for a 5-month period (Jan–May 2027).
Responsibilities
Work under guidance to analyze manufacturing data, identify variability sources, and produce data-driven recommendations.
- Analyze inline signals, process parameters, manufacturing information, and test results to identify trends and contributors to reject rates.
- Apply statistical and data-analytics techniques to quantify relationships between process conditions and rejects.
- Evaluate AI-enabled analytical tools and incorporate responsible AI practices into analysis workflows.
- Develop analytical models, visualizations, and summaries that communicate findings clearly to engineers.
- Document methodology, findings, limitations, and recommended next steps in a final technical report and presentation.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and participate in technical discussions and reviews.
Requirements
Minimum qualifications and technical skills required for successful completion of the project.
- Programming skills in Python, SQL, or equivalent analytical tools.
- Familiarity with statistics, data analysis, and data visualization techniques.
- Basic understanding of Artificial Intelligence or AI-enabled workflows and how to apply them responsibly.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, systems-thinking, and critical-thinking abilities.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills and ability to document technical work.
- Self-motivated, able to learn quickly, and able to work collaboratively across teams.
- Availability to commit to a full-time internship for the specified 5-month period (Jan–May 2027).
- Nice to have: prior exposure to semiconductor packaging, Assembly and Test processes, or manufacturing data analytics.
Education Requirements
Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related engineering field.
