INTERN mNAND System Architecture
Micron TechnologyJob Title
INTERN mNAND System Architecture
Role Summary
Intern will support definition and evaluation of next-generation managed NAND (mNAND) architectures for embedded storage (eMMC, UFS) on Android/Linux platforms. Work includes system characterization, reverse engineering of platform software/hardware, modeling architecture trade-offs, and assessing AI impact on storage.
Reporting to the design/integration team, the role performs hands-on lab and software work to enable prototype validation and propose ASIC, firmware, and NAND-level changes.
Experience Level
Entry-level internship. Targeted at near-graduation or recent graduates (less than 1 year of post-graduate experience).
Responsibilities
Core day-to-day responsibilities include platform characterization, modeling, and kernel-level experimentation.
- Run characterizations on Android platforms (phones and development boards) and analyze performance data.
- Develop and run system and mNAND architecture models; perform configuration and trade-off analysis for future designs.
- Enable, modify, and maintain system platforms (mobile phones, automotive development boards).
- Run benchmark tools and analyze outputs to identify platform behaviors and usage models.
- Design and implement automatic kernel logging (dmesg, kmsg, ftrace, etc.).
- Investigate kernel drivers, evaluate impact of new features, and build Linux kernels to enable/disable mNAND features.
- Support technical discussions on next-generation topics and contribute to prototyping and system modeling.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience for immediate contribution. Preferred items listed separately.
- Proficient with Bash shell scripting.
- Python proficiency with data analysis libraries (e.g., numpy, pandas).
- Programming skills in C.
- Basic knowledge of Android architecture and familiarity with Linux kernel logging and driver investigation.
- Comfort using AI-enabled programming tools for software development.
Nice-to-have:
- Knowledge of simulators for autonomous driving/robotics (CARLA, ISAAC).
- Experience with lab equipment: protocol analyzers, logic analyzers, oscilloscopes, JTAG/ICE debuggers.
- Experience with NAND, SSD, eMMC, UFS, or firmware development and validation.
- Familiarity with modern protocol analysis and software development methodologies.
Education Requirements
Master's or Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electronic/Electrical Engineering, or equivalent technical discipline. Near-to-graduation students or recent graduates (less than one year) are targeted. Equivalent practical experience may be considered.
