Intern - Engineering (Verification)

Role Summary

Join Microchip's Data Center Solutions IP Design team to support verification of storage controller SoC products. The intern will work with experienced engineers to develop verification environments, contribute automation and AI-enhanced verification tools, and support simulation and debug activities.

This is a part-time internship role (up to 25 hours per week) based in Chandler, AZ.

Experience Level

Entry-level (internship). Candidates are typically senior undergraduate students or early post-graduate students with limited industry experience.

Responsibilities

Primary duties include:

  • Write and maintain testbenches using SystemVerilog and industry-standard verification methodologies.
  • Run and analyze simulations, identify issues, and collaborate with design engineers to resolve them.
  • Develop automated verification environments, tools, and scripts.
  • Design, implement, and integrate AI-based tools and workflows to improve verification efficiency.
  • Research and evaluate AI techniques applicable to ASIC/IP verification.
  • Participate in team meetings, design reviews, and technical discussions.

Requirements

Minimum and preferred skills and attributes:

  • Familiarity with Verilog and SystemVerilog; UVM experience is a plus.
  • Programming and scripting skills (TCL, Python, Perl).
  • Strong problem solving, debugging, analytical, and written/verbal communication skills.
  • Exposure to AI concepts or tools applied to design or process improvement is desirable.
  • Able to work up to 25 hours per week while enrolled in a degree program.

Education Requirements

Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a closely related field. Candidates should have completed courses in digital design and computer architecture and have digital design project experience using Verilog/SystemVerilog. Preferred graduation: Summer 2027. Post-graduate study in a related discipline is acceptable.
