Intern - Engineering (Applications)

Role Summary

Product application engineering intern supporting the mixed-signal IC product line. The role helps customers with design-in activities, performs bench characterization, and produces technical collateral to enable product adoption.

Experience Level

Internship β€” Entry-level. Intended for current undergraduate students; no prior professional experience required.

Responsibilities

Key day-to-day activities for this internship.

  • Support customer design-in: answer technical questions, perform schematic and layout reviews, and debug customer boards.
  • Perform bench characterization and testing of new products using lab equipment.
  • Develop technical collateral: datasheets, reference designs, user guides, and application notes.
  • Create evaluation boards, reference design schematics, and design tools for new products.
  • Work cross-functionally with product marketing, product management, and chip design teams.
  • Collect product and application requirements by communicating with customers and internal teams.
  • Travel as required (up to 25%).

Requirements

Must-have skills and conditions for the role.

  • Familiarity with discrete semiconductor characteristics and operation (MOSFET, BJT, diodes).
  • Laboratory experience using digital oscilloscopes, function generators, curve tracers, and network analyzers for testing and debugging.
  • Experience with schematic capture, circuit simulation, and PCB layout tools.
  • Ability to multi-task, manage priorities, solve technical problems independently, and meet project deadlines.
  • Well-organized, self-driven, with good written and verbal communication skills; able to work effectively in a team.
  • U.S. export control eligibility: must provide proof of U.S. citizenship, permanent residency, or protected individual status under 8 USC 1324b(a)(3).

Education Requirements

Pursuing a BS in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Technology, or Electrical and Computer Engineering. Prefer academic experience in power electronics.
