Job Title

Intern - EDE Thin Films Equipment Engineering

Role Summary

Intern on the Thin Films Equipment Engineering team supporting semiconductor equipment development and optimization. Work with process, facilities, and supplier teams to improve equipment performance and enable technology development.

Experience Level

Entry-level internship for current undergraduate or master's students; suitable for candidates with academic project or internship experience (0–3 years).

Responsibilities

Contribute to equipment and process engineering projects under mentorship.

  • Collect, analyze, and interpret equipment and process data to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Support structured experiments and document technical findings.
  • Collaborate with Equipment, Process, and Facilities Engineering and suppliers to troubleshoot and improve equipment performance.
  • Learn equipment hardware, process interactions, and operating conditions to support issue resolution.
  • Apply data analytics and AI tools to identify trends and improve engineering workflows.

Requirements

Must-have skills and expectations for successful interns.

  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills through coursework, projects, internships, or research.
  • Ability to collect, organize, and analyze technical data using engineering or statistical methods.
  • Effective verbal and written communication; able to present technical information clearly.
  • Availability to complete an internship aligned with academic program requirements.

Nice-to-have:

  • Knowledge of semiconductor manufacturing, thin films, or equipment systems.
  • Experience with data analysis tools or scripting (Python, SQL, JMP, etc.).
  • Familiarity with design of experiments (DOE), statistical analysis, or process optimization.
  • Experience applying AI/ML or advanced analytics to engineering problems.
  • Proven ability to work in collaborative, cross-functional teams.

Education Requirements

Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, or a related engineering field. Must be enrolled in an academic program and able to complete an internship aligned with program requirements.
