Intern - Dry Etch Equipment Development Engineering
Role Summary
Internship on the Dry Etch Equipment Development Engineering team developing and optimizing plasma etch hardware for semiconductor memory manufacturing. The role provides hands-on exposure to lab and equipment-development environments and supports experimental validation and hardware improvements.
Experience Level
Internship β current student level. Candidate must be enrolled and not graduate before September 2027.
Responsibilities
Primary duties during the internship include experimental work, data collection, and cross-functional collaboration to improve etch equipment and processes.
- Follow safety, quality, and compliance protocols in lab, fab, and equipment-development settings.
- Design and conduct experiments to characterize equipment limitations and performance.
- Develop and test in-process hardware and analytical techniques for plasma etch tools.
- Collect, analyze, document, and communicate technical data with integrity.
- Present results to technical stakeholders and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- Troubleshoot and solve engineering problems related to plasma etch hardware.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and attributes for successful performance in the internship.
- Practical experience or familiarity with electromechanical systems or hardware used in semiconductor equipment.
- Strong digital literacy; ability to learn new software tools quickly and apply data analysis to support technical decisions.
- Responsible use of AI-enabled tools where applicable.
- Ability to work independently and in teams, meet commitments, and adapt based on feedback.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills for presenting technical work.

Education Requirements
Currently enrolled student working toward a B.S., M.S., or Ph.D. in Engineering or a related Science (for example: Physics, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering). Candidate must be a current student and not graduate before September 2027. Background may include electromechanical or hardware-derived education or work history and an understanding of semiconductor equipment.
