Intern - Design Verification Infrastructure Engineer - Platform

Role Summary

Work on SiFive's Design Verification Infrastructure team to build and maintain the Verification Platform used across verification and validation teams. The role focuses on platform libraries and tools, extending Chisel and CIRCT, and integrating Scala and Python tooling into end-to-end verification flows.

Experience Level

Entry-level — Internship. No specific years of experience required; role is targeted at students or early-career candidates.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include building platform software and enabling scalable verification flows.

• Architect, implement, and maintain a scalable Verification Platform for design verification and validation teams.
• Extend Chisel and CIRCT to support Verification Platform libraries and tools.
• Develop Scala-based verification libraries (test harnesses, stimulus, scoreboards, generators).
• Build Python tools to query design metadata and integrate with verification tools.
• Create and maintain end-to-end tools and methodologies used by verification teams.
• Document platform capabilities and educate verification teams on best practices.

Requirements

Must-have skills and experience:

• Software engineering experience in at least one compiled language and one scripting language.
• Familiarity with modern software engineering practices (testing, CI/CD, version control).
• Experience deploying software systems into production or production-like environments.

Nice-to-have:

• Experience with Chisel, CIRCT, and/or MLIR.
• Experience working on systems software such as compilers, databases, or operating systems.
• Understanding of EDA tools and design verification flows.
