Micron TechnologyJob Title
Intern - Design Architecture, HBM
Role Summary
The HBM Design Architecture intern will support early-stage research, performance modeling, and tool development to inform future high-bandwidth memory (HBM) architectural decisions. The role reports to the HBM Design Architecture team and works closely with DTPCO, Design, and Product/System teams.
Work includes data collection and analysis, simulation-framework development, and collaboration with senior engineers and mentors on AI memory and system trends.
Experience Level
Entry-level / internship. Intended for current undergraduate or master's students; cannot graduate prior to September 2027.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include research, data analysis, simulation support, and collaboration with technical mentors.
- Research trends in compute, networking, and storage to assess how future AI workloads may evolve.
- Gather and synthesize data related to bandwidth, latency, and system-level memory requirements to support HBM architecture analysis.
- Help develop or refine simulation frameworks that model AI cluster performance and memory subsystem behavior.
- Build or support trend dashboards using CSP benchmarks and industry datasets.
- Collaborate with DTPCO and design mentors to explore architectural interception opportunities for next-generation AI systems.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and capabilities for success in this internship.
- Must-have: Foundational understanding of computer architecture, digital systems, and hardware/software interaction.
- Must-have: Programming experience in Python, C/C++, or similar languages.
- Must-have: Ability to learn new tools, simulation frameworks, and data-analysis workflows.
- Nice-to-have: Exposure to AI workload behavior, ML training pipelines, or large-scale system bottlenecks.
- Nice-to-have: Familiarity with LLMs and recent machine-learning developments.
- Nice-to-have: Ability to translate research findings into concise technical summaries and recommendations.
Education Requirements
Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field. Candidates must not graduate before September 2027.
