Role Summary
Internship on the Virtuoso product development team within the Custom IC Products Group (CPG) in Cork. The intern will learn RF design analysis and implementation tools, software development processes, algorithm design, debugging, and GUI development while contributing to product features for customers.
Experience Level
Entry-level internship for students enrolled in undergraduate or graduate programs. No prior professional experience required.
Responsibilities
Typical responsibilities for this internship include:
- Develop and test software components for RF and design-analysis tools.
- Implement and evaluate algorithms used in product features.
- Debug software and assist with performance tuning and validation.
- Contribute to GUI development and user-facing features as needed.
- Work with the team on build tools, version control, and development workflows.
- Document work and communicate progress to the reporting manager (Sr. Principal Software Engineer).
Requirements
Required technical exposure and skills; the degree expectation is listed separately under Education Requirements.
- Exposure to Linux/Unix development environments.
- Experience writing programs in C or C++, or object-oriented programming in another language.
- Familiarity with build tools such as gmake or CMake and IDEs like CLion or Visual Studio.
- Basic debugging skills and problem-solving aptitude.
- Good verbal and written communication for team collaboration.
- Nice-to-have: prior experience with Virtuoso or RF/design-analysis tools; GUI development experience.
Education Requirements
Enrollment in a Bachelor's or Master's program in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Electrical Engineering (CSE / ECE / EE) is expected.
