Intern Applications Engineering (f/m/d)

Role Summary

Internship to support validation and development of Digital Multiphase Controllers and Smart Power Stage modules used in high-current CPU/GPU power systems. The intern will execute validation plans, automate measurements, collect and analyze parametric and functional data, and work with cross-functional teams in the Performance Core Power division based in Germering.

Entry-level internship. Suitable for students or recent graduates; no specific years of professional experience required.

Responsibilities

The role focuses on validation of controller features and parametric performance across functional, timing, and electrical specifications.

• Develop and execute evaluation plans and validation test procedures.
• Automate bench measurements and test sequences (hardware automation).
• Write and maintain Python scripts for test control and data processing.
• Perform laboratory measurements and collect parametric data.
• Compare results against datasheet, specification, and simulation expectations.
• Debug anomalies and report issues; support cross-discipline debugging (design, firmware, GUI, test engineering).
• Analyze data and produce concise reports for stakeholders and deadlines.
• Perform ATE-to-bench correlation on selected parameters.

Requirements

Minimum skills and experience expected for successful performance in the internship.

• Must-have: Solid background in electronics and power circuits; hands-on laboratory measurement experience with oscilloscope, DMM, sourcemeter, function generator, etc.
• Must-have: Practical experience with measurement equipment and bench procedures.
• Must-have: Programming/scripting in Python for test automation and data analysis.
• Must-have: Good analytical and debugging skills and an R&D mindset.
• Must-have: Clear verbal and written communication and presentation skills in English.
• Must-have: Ability to work in a multicultural, multinational team.
• Nice-to-have: PCB schematic/layout knowledge.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree (or current enrollment) in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Computer Engineering, Physics, or a related technical field preferred. Relevant coursework or practical experience in mixed-signal design, switching power supplies, and power-management semiconductors is expected. Equivalent practical experience is acceptable.
