Job Title

Intern — AMS Tool (Milan)

Role Summary

Internship in Cadence's Milan office to investigate and validate generative-AI-driven flows for accelerating verification of mixed-signal semiconductor designs. The role focuses on Real Number Models (RNMs) and integrating the Model In Minutes flow with Virtuoso.

Work with engineering teams on real industry cases to define, run, and validate AI-based verification approaches that increase design productivity.

Experience Level

Entry-level internship for engineering students; suitable for current undergraduate or graduate students.

Responsibilities

The intern will contribute to research, integration, and validation efforts around AI-driven RNM generation and verification:

  • Investigate generative AI techniques to accelerate verification of semiconductor designs.
  • Evaluate and validate AI-driven design flows and compare them to existing verification methods.
  • Use and validate the Model In Minutes flow integrated into Virtuoso to build and test RNMs.
  • Run experiments on real industry cases and analyze performance and accuracy trade-offs versus SPICE.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams in Milan and other locations; communicate findings and document results.

Requirements

Key expectations for a successful candidate based on the project scope.

  • Must-have: Interest or basic experience in analog/mixed-signal verification or semiconductor design workflows.
  • Must-have: Programming or scripting ability (for experiment automation and data processing), e.g., Python.
  • Must-have: Familiarity with basic machine learning/generative-AI concepts or strong willingness to learn them quickly.
  • Must-have: Ability to work with engineering teams and communicate technical results clearly.
  • Nice-to-have: Prior exposure to Cadence Virtuoso, RNMs, SPICE simulations, or Model In Minutes flow.
  • Nice-to-have: Experience validating models or running verification experiments on mixed-signal designs.

Education Requirements

Current enrollment as an engineering student (undergraduate or graduate) in an engineering or related technical program — eg. electrical/electronic engineering, computer engineering, computer science, or a related field. (Source text: "Internship in the Milan office for Engineering student.")
