Intern: AI for Silicon Test Data Analytics & Failure Analysis
Role Summary
This is a 6-month on-site internship with the ATE Test team in Sophia Antipolis, France. The intern will apply software, data-analysis and AI techniques to semiconductor test datasets to accelerate engineering analysis and failure investigation.
Experience Level
Entry-level internship suitable for a final-year engineering student or equivalent early-career candidate.
Responsibilities
The internship focuses on processing real semiconductor test results, applying ML/AI methods and delivering automated analysis and visual summaries for engineering use.
- Analyze semiconductor test results and engineering datasets.
- Explore AI/ML methods to identify patterns, anomalies and correlations in test data.
- Investigate clustering and classification approaches for silicon failures.
- Develop Python tools to automate test data processing and analysis.
- Automate analysis of characterization sweeps (voltage, frequency, operating conditions).
- Correlate results across test conditions and silicon samples.
- Create visualizations and automated engineering summaries to communicate findings.
- Collaborate with test engineers to evaluate solutions on real use cases and present results to the team.
Requirements
Core expectations for candidates. Education specifics are listed under Education Requirements below.
- Must-have: Basic Python programming skills and comfort working with numerical data.
- Must-have: Analytical mindset, strong problem-solving skills and curiosity to learn semiconductor testing context.
- Must-have: Interest in AI, machine learning and data analytics.
- Nice-to-have: Experience with Python data-analysis libraries (pandas, NumPy), ML or statistical analysis.
- Nice-to-have: Knowledge of semiconductor devices, digital electronics or memories, and data visualization experience.
Education Requirements
Final-year engineering student or equivalent; engineering or scientific background in electronics, microelectronics, computer science, data science or a related field. Equivalent practical experience in data analysis, machine learning or semiconductor testing is acceptable.
