Interface IP Verification Engineer (Pre-Silicon)
SynopsysJob Title
Interface IP Verification Engineer (Pre-Silicon)
Role Summary
The engineer will own pre-silicon verification for high-performance Interface IP including PCIe, CXL, DDR, and Ethernet. Work includes developing scalable UVM/SystemVerilog environments, defining verification strategies, driving coverage closure, and debugging RTL/protocol issues.
Collaborate with architects, RTL, firmware, and system teams to ensure product quality and enable successful releases.
Experience Level
Mid-level β typically around 5 years of industry verification experience (see Education section for degree details).
Responsibilities
Core responsibilities focus on functional verification, automation, and cross-team integration.
- Own verification of complex Interface IP (PCIe, CXL, DDR, Ethernet) from spec review through release.
- Architect, develop, and maintain scalable UVM-based verification environments and reusable VIP.
- Define verification strategy, create test plans, and implement constrained-random, coverage-driven tests.
- Drive functional coverage closure, verification signoff, and release readiness.
- Debug RTL, protocol, and system-level issues and improve verification automation and efficiency.
- Collaborate with architecture, RTL, firmware, and systems teams; mentor junior engineers on methodology and best practices.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience.
- At least 5 years of direct industry experience verifying complex ASIC or SoC designs.
- Deep expertise in SystemVerilog and UVM methodologies.
- Strong protocol knowledge in one or more: PCIe, CXL, DDR memory interfaces, Ethernet.
- Experience developing constrained-random, coverage-driven verification solutions.
- Proven RTL and protocol debugging skills and experience with industry simulators (e.g., VCS, ModelSim).
- Ability to drive technical initiatives independently and collaborate across geographically distributed teams.
Preferred:
- Experience developing verification IP, assertion-based verification, and formal methods.
- Familiarity with modern SoC architectures and high-speed communication interfaces.
- Experience improving verification reusability, coverage, and execution efficiency.
Education Requirements
B.S. or M.S. in Electrical Engineering (BSEE or MSEE) as stated in the posting.
