Interconnect Model Development/Support CAD Staff Engineer / Senior Engineer

Role Summary

Develop flows and methodologies to extract and release interconnect models used by parasitic extraction tools. Collaborate with scribe TEG teams to design test structures, coordinate with global process and design teams, engage external EDA vendors, and support Micron designers in using extraction tools and flows.

Experience Level

Senior-level (Staff/Senior). Typical experience: 7+ years in CAD, physical design, or semiconductor CAD engineering roles.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include model development, calibration, flow creation, vendor interaction, and user support.

• Build and release interconnect models from process technology information for use by parasitic extraction tools.
• Collaborate with global process technology teams to obtain interconnect stack details and ensure model accuracy.
• Work with process development and scribe TEG teams to develop methodologies and design TEGs for model calibration.
• Develop new parasitic-extraction flows from layout and implement improvements with external EDA vendors.
• Debug and troubleshoot EDA vendor tool issues and coordinate resolutions with vendors.
• Support and train Micron designers on parasitic extraction tools and flows.

Requirements

Must-have and preferred skills for successful performance in this role.

• Experience with chip design environments, including schematic and layout tools.
• Experience using layout parasitic extraction tools (e.g., Synopsys StarRC).
• Basic knowledge of semiconductor process technology and DRC rules.
• Programming experience in Python and Cadence SKILL.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills; ability to work with global teams and external vendors.
• Experience debugging and troubleshooting EDA tools and flows.
• Willingness to learn new tools and methodologies when experience is limited.
• Nice-to-have: experience with Perl, C/C++, and using AI agents to assist engineering tasks.
