Interconnect Micro-architect/RTL Design Engineer
Advanced Micro DevicesJob Title
Interconnect Micro-architect/RTL Design Engineer
Role Summary
Design and implement microarchitecture and synthesizable RTL for scalable, coherent on-chip interconnects (NoC/fabric) used across server, AI, client, and gaming products. Work on performance-, power-, area-, and timing-optimized hardware within a cross-functional, multi-site engineering team.
Note: This role is not eligible for visa sponsorship.
Experience Level
Mid-level (Level - Mid-Career). Specific years of experience not specified.
Responsibilities
Primary duties include microarchitecture definition, RTL implementation, and support for validation and debugging across pre- and post-silicon phases.
- Define microarchitecture for interconnect / network-on-chip components.
- Develop synthesizable RTL using Verilog/SystemVerilog.
- Optimize designs for power, performance, area, and timing targets.
- Deliver RTL and documentation to verification teams; support unit-level validation.
- Create assertions and contribute to coverage strategies.
- Debug pre-silicon and post-silicon design issues and collaborate with verification teams to resolve them.
- Collaborate with architecture, verification, and cross-functional engineering teams across sites.
Requirements
Core technical skills and practical experience required or strongly expected.
- Proven RTL design experience using Verilog or SystemVerilog.
- Strong digital design fundamentals and experience with high-speed hardware systems.
- Experience debugging RTL or hardware systems.
- Ability to optimize designs for power, performance, area, and timing trade-offs.
- Experience working in cross-functional, multi-site teams and producing clear design documentation.
- Preferred tooling exposure: scripting or programming (Python, C, C++) and familiarity with design-for-test (DFT) concepts.
- Interest or experience using AI-assisted design/debugging tools is desirable.
Education Requirements
BS, MS, or PhD degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering preferred.
