Job Title

Interconnect Engineer

Role Summary

Work on high-power external laser source (ELS) modules for co-packaged optics (CPO) systems on NVIDIA's Interconnect Design Team in Roskilde, Denmark. The role combines hands-on lab work, electrical/optical/mechanical design input, and technical management of external suppliers.

Primary mission: drive ELS product development from concept through vendor implementation to mass production, ensuring electrical, thermal and optical performance targets are met.

Experience Level

Mid-level β€” typically 3+ years of relevant experience (photonics/optics or related engineering).

Responsibilities

Own technical delivery for ELS modules, both internal products and supplier-sourced units.

  • Participate in design and development of internal ELS products.
  • Define and communicate technical specifications to external vendors.
  • Provide day-to-day technical ownership for vendor implementations: change management, review test results, lab testing, troubleshooting and debugging.
  • Drive projects from concept to mass production and coordinate cross-functional activities.
  • Report progress, risks and gaps to management.

Requirements

Key skills and experience needed for successful performance.

Must-have:

  • 3+ years experience in photonics, optics, or related engineering domains.
  • Hands-on lab experience in optics or optical communications, including automating test setups.
  • Working knowledge of electrical circuits and practical implementation.
  • Experience managing technical work with external vendors or contract manufacturers.
  • Strong ownership, motivation, and a product-oriented mindset.
  • Proficiency in English (written and spoken).

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience packaging electro-optic components or modules.
  • Expertise in laser physics or high-power optical systems.
  • Experience working with contract manufacturers on product implementation.

Education Requirements

M.Sc. in Electrical Engineering, Physics or equivalent practical experience is required or expected; a PhD in a relevant technical field is listed as preferred. Fields mentioned: electrical engineering, physics, photonics; equivalent practical experience acceptable.
