Job Title
Intel Foundry Advanced Device Development Engineer
Role Summary
Lead device engineering efforts within Logic Technology Development (LTD) for Intel Foundry. Manage a team responsible for designing, executing, and analyzing experiments to develop and scale advanced silicon transistor process technologies for foundry and internal products.
Work cross-functionally with integration, module, design/modeling, reliability, and foundry customers to deliver production-capable processes, validate device behavior, and provide high-quality Process-Design Kits (PDKs).
Experience Level
Senior β typically requires 10+ years of relevant experience in advanced-node semiconductor development and device engineering.
Responsibilities
The role focuses on technical leadership, people management, and delivering manufacturable device/process technology.
- Manage and mentor a team of device and process engineers in the design, execution, and analysis of experiments to meet performance, yield, and reliability targets.
- Define and prioritize team objectives embedded in foundry and internal programs; coordinate across program, integration, and reliability teams.
- Develop and validate device/process flows to achieve high-volume manufacturable technology.
- Deliver high-quality PDKs through silicon-to-simulation correlation, layout effect validation, and electrical monitor correlation.
- Define robust test structures and test programs to validate design rules and extract key device parameters.
- Analyze electrical-test, yield, and fab data using statistics/data mining to guide development direction.
- Collaborate with foundry technology engineering and customers to ensure product performance and technology value.
Requirements
Minimum and preferred technical skills and experience. Degree and field requirements are summarized separately under Education Requirements.
-
Must-have: 10+ years of experience in advanced-node semiconductor industry with hands-on exposure to semiconductor materials, fabrication, device physics, and electrical characterization of transistors/diodes.
-
Must-have: Experience with experiment design, electrical test data analysis, and delivering technology to production.
-
Preferred: Knowledge of advanced transistor device structures and device physics; process monitoring test-structure design and layout.
-
Preferred: Device and circuit simulation experience.
-
Preferred: Familiarity with Statistical Process Control (SPC), Design of Experiments (DOE), and engineering analysis tools.
-
Preferred: Experience with databases, research methods, machine learning or analytics packages (e.g., JMP, MATLAB, Octave), scripting languages (e.g., Python, JSL, Perl, TCL), and programming languages (e.g., SQL, C/C++).
Education Requirements
Master's degree required (Ph.D. preferred) in Electrical Engineering, Electrical & Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering & Computer Science, or a closely related semiconductor field. (These degree and field expectations were listed in the qualifications.)
