Job Title

Integrated Circuits Intern

Role Summary

The intern will support ASIC and mixed-signal integrated circuit design within the Silicon Architecture group, contributing across concept, implementation, verification, test, and delivery phases.

Work includes developing conceptual circuit designs, simulation and modeling, supporting block- and chip-level planning, and producing test and verification inputs while collaborating with analog, digital, and verification engineers.

Experience Level

Entry-level internship. No specific years of professional experience required; position is intended for currently enrolled undergraduate or graduate students.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include technical design, analysis, verification support, and documentation:

  • Design, simulate, and analyze circuits at functional and transistor levels.
  • Support system-on-chip trade studies between analog, digital, and software implementations.
  • Contribute to top-level and block-level specifications, architectural descriptions, and interface definitions.
  • Participate in verification planning and provide inputs to test plans; perform bench-level testing and data analysis.
  • Generate and present test reports with plots, tables, evaluation criteria, and conclusions.
  • Document design decisions and implementation notes; review block-level designs during implementation.
  • Work in multidisciplinary teams and communicate results to peers and supervisors.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and attributes; preferred skills listed separately.

  • Proficiency with Cadence or equivalent IC design tools (examples: Virtuoso, Genus, Innovus, Tempus, Voltus).
  • Strong mathematical skills, attention to detail, and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Good written and verbal communication and organizational skills; able to work independently or in a team.
  • Strong general computer skills (e.g., MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
  • Ability to adapt to changing technical environments and priorities.
  • Applicants selected for this position may be required to obtain and maintain a U.S. government security clearance.

Preferred:

  • Experience or interest in high-level mixed-signal modeling and verification tools such as SystemVerilog, SV-RNM, Verilog-AMS.
  • Scripting experience (e.g., Python, SKILL) to automate design, verification, and test flows.

Education Requirements

Enrolled in an accredited full-time undergraduate or graduate degree program is required. The posting does not specify particular fields of study or certifications.
