Infra Sr Staff Design Verification Engineer
QualcommJob Title
Infra Sr Staff Design Verification Engineer
Role Summary
Lead verification for infrastructure blocks and subsystems, developing and maintaining UVM-based verification environments for high-speed interconnects and system integration. Collaborate with RTL designers, architects and validation teams to ensure functional correctness, coverage closure, and performance/power trade-offs.
Experience Level
Senior - typically candidates have substantial ASIC/SoC verification experience; hiring prefers engineers with 8+ years in related verification roles (see Education Requirements for minimums by degree).
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include designing verification environments, executing verification plans, and driving closure at block and top levels.
- Develop and maintain UVM-based verification environments for PCIe, CXL, AXI and related interconnects.
- Create and execute verification plans; run regressions and measure coverage convergence.
- Perform block-level and top-level verification using functional coverage and assertions.
- Integrate third-party VIPs and validate protocol compliance.
- Implement and enhance monitors, agents, scoreboards and stimulus sequences.
- Integrate and validate SMMU and Coresight components in subsystem environments.
- Debug RTL and gate-level failures; collaborate with design and architecture teams to resolve issues.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to verification methodology improvements.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience for the role.
- Strong proficiency in SystemVerilog and UVM verification methodology.
- Deep protocol knowledge: PCIe (Gen3βGen6), CXL (1.1β3.0), AXI and CHI.
- Experience with Synopsys/Mentor VIPs for PCIe/CXL and AMBA protocols.
- Expertise in assertion-based verification (SVA), coverage-driven and random constrained testing.
- Proficient scripting for automation (Python, Perl, Tcl).
- Familiarity with power-aware verification (UPF), formal verification techniques, and performance/power optimization considerations.
- Proven ability to debug RTL and gate-level simulation failures and drive verification closure.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with USB, Ethernet or other peripheral protocols.
- Post-silicon validation and lab bring-up experience.
- Experience with subsystem/SoC level verification and integration.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Engineering or related field with 4+ years relevant experience; OR Master's with 3+ years; OR PhD with 2+ years. Qualifications in Electrical, Electronics, or Computer Engineering are listed as preferred. Equivalent practical experience in hardware/verification replaces formal degree requirements where stated.
