Infra Formal Verification Sr Lead Engineer
Role Summary
Lead formal verification of infrastructure and peripheral RTL for ASIC/SoC blocks. Work on formal proofs, model/equivalence checking, assertions and abstraction to ensure correctness, performance, and low-power targets.
Collaborate with worldwide design, systems, and EDA/CAD teams to define verification strategy, debug issues, and integrate formal flows into the overall verification sign-off process.
Experience Level
Senior - typically 4–12 years of VLSI industry experience as stated in the posting.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities for this role include:
- Plan and execute formal verification for infra and peripheral RTL blocks.
- Develop properties, temporal assertions, and formal proofs using industry tools and model checking algorithms.
- Apply and implement abstraction techniques to make formal verification scalable and effective.
- Debug RTL and specification issues uncovered by formal checks and coordinate fixes with design teams.
- Automate formal flows and integrate scripts into verification regression environments.
- Collaborate with systems and EDA/CAD teams on tool usage, methodologies, and verification strategy.
- Mentor and guide junior verification engineers on best practices and formal methodologies.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience:
- 4–12 years of VLSI industry verification/design experience.
- Specialization in formal verification with hands-on experience using tools such as JasperGold or VC-Formal.
- Proven knowledge of formal verification methodologies and model/equivalence checking techniques.
- Hands-on experience with Verilog / SystemVerilog and writing temporal logic assertions (SVA).
- Proficient scripting skills (Perl, TCL and/or Python) for automation and flows.
- Strong analytical and written/verbal communication skills; able to work with global cross-functional teams.
- Familiarity working with EDA/CAD teams and integrating formal tools into SoC verification flows (nice-to-have).
Education Requirements
Degree in Science/Engineering or related field is expected: Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Science, Engineering or related fields.
