Job Title

Implementation Engineer

Role Summary

The Implementation Engineer performs synthesis and physical implementation of Arm cores, systems and SoCs, focusing on timing, area and power optimization on advanced process nodes. The role sits in Arm's Solution Engineering implementation team and involves developing implementation methodologies, supporting silicon demonstrations, and collaborating with RTL teams, customers and EDA vendors.

Experience Level

Entry-level - 2+ years of ASIC/SoC implementation experience (RTL-to-GDS flow).

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include implementation and analysis tasks across IP and SoC projects:

  • Synthesis, physical design and implementation of Arm cores, systems and SoCs.
  • Analyze design timing, area and power and implement optimizations.
  • Develop and deploy implementation methodologies and automation to improve efficiency and results.
  • Support detailed implementation analysis and data‑mining to assess design quality.
  • Collaborate with RTL and physical-IP teams to drive analysis and optimization of IP.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience:

  • 2+ years' proven experience in ASIC system-on-chip implementation flow from RTL to GDS.
  • Experience in timing-constraints development, synthesis and timing closure.
  • Experience with tape-outs of multi‑million gate designs on modern process technologies.
  • Ability to develop timing constraints for build and sign‑off.
  • Strong initiative and problem-solving skills; able to work independently and in teams.

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience with scripting/programming (Tcl, Shell, Perl, Python).
  • Experience with low-power design techniques (power gating, voltage/frequency scaling).
  • Verilog RTL design experience.
  • Understanding of DFT modes and their implications on physical design.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's or Master's degree (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or other relevant technical fields; equivalent practical experience accepted.
