IC Verification Engineer
Raspberry PiJob Title
IC Verification Engineer
Role Summary
Join Raspberry Pi's ASIC team in Cambridge to plan and execute IP- and chip-level verification for next-generation products. The role covers verification planning, testbench development, simulation, and close collaboration with designers through to silicon sign-off.
Work involves hands-on verification ownership across projects in a small team responsible for specification, design, verification, implementation and qualification of ASICs.
Experience Level
Mid-level (mid-career). The posting requests demonstrated hands-on experience across multiple verification projects (mentions at least three projects); no explicit years-of-experience requirement provided.
Responsibilities
Deliver verification activities for IP blocks and full-chip integration, from planning through execution and debugging.
- Create detailed verification plans for IP and chip-level features.
- Develop and maintain testbenches (from scratch or using shared components) and verification infrastructure.
- Implement tests using SystemVerilog, UVM, Python and related languages/tools.
- Run and analyse simulations, including gate-level where required; debug non-trivial failures to root cause.
- Write functional coverage and SVA assertions; track coverage closure.
- Collaborate continuously with RTL designers, synthesis and implementation engineers to support sign-off.
- Support low-power verification and bring-up activities towards production qualification.
Requirements
Core technical skills and practical experience required; additional skills are beneficial.
- Must-have: Hands-on verification experience on multiple projects (minimum three projects indicated).
- Experience creating testbenches using SystemVerilog, Python, or UVM.
- Ability to analyse and debug complex test failures and a good understanding of the design flow from synthesis to silicon sign-off.
- Experience writing embedded C (ideally for Cortex-M class MCUs).
- Working knowledge of at least one complex IP protocol (examples: PCIe, HDMI, USB, SDIO, AMBA).
- Experience writing functional coverage and SVA assertions.
- Experience with low-power simulation techniques.
- Willingness to work full-time on-site in Cambridge.
- Nice-to-have: SoC-level verification experience (caches, DMA, security architectures such as TrustZone), formal verification tools (e.g. Jasper), Cadence simulation and gate-level simulation experience, and scripting skills (Bash, TCL, Make, YAML).
Education Requirements
Not specified.
