IC Verification Engineer

Role Summary

The IC Verification Engineer will design and implement scalable, reusable verification environments and test plans to validate ASIC blocks, cores and SoCs. The role leads functional verification efforts, drives coverage closure, debugs regressions, and documents verification strategy.

Works within a verification team, mentors junior engineers, and coordinates reviews with design and architecture teams.

Experience Level

Senior-level engineer. Position requires extensive verification experience (typically 10+ years developing verification environments and driving full ASIC verification cycles).

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include building verification environments, executing test plans, and ensuring functional coverage closure.

• Architect and develop scalable, reusable testbench environments using verification methodologies.
• Define and drive test plans for block/core/SoC features; write and maintain functional coverage.
• Develop pseudo-random tests to achieve comprehensive functional coverage and verification closure.
• Debug regression failures, analyze coverage gaps, and improve tests to close gaps.
• Document verification strategy, test plans, and environment design; lead reviews with design/architecture.
• Mentor and guide junior engineers; contribute to team process and quality improvements.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience for immediate contribution.

• 10+ years developing complex verification environments, test plans, functional coverage, and pseudo-random testing.
• Proficient in SystemVerilog and verification methodologies such as UVM or VMM.
• Experience through a full ASIC cycle from architecture development to tapeout with focus on verification.
• Strong debug skills for regression failure analysis and understanding complex designs.
• Solid understanding of complex protocols (example: PCI Express or other multi-layered protocols).
• Ability to lead documentation and verification strategy, and to drive verification quality and efficiency.

Nice-to-have:

• Direct PCIe protocol verification experience.
• Scripting experience (Python or Perl).
• Comfort using Makefiles and build systems.
• Experience verifying other protocols such as AXI.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Electronics (or equivalent) with 12+ years of relevant experience; or Master's degree in Electrical/Electronics (or equivalent) with 10+ years of relevant experience. Equivalent practical experience is accepted as stated in the posting.
