IC Validation Engineer Intern - BS/MS - 2027 Co-Op
Role Summary
Work on lab silicon bring-up and validation of high-speed mixed-signal DSP chips. Tasks include measuring transmitter/receiver performance, testing digital and analog features, building test stations, and running/editing automation to collect and analyze silicon data. You will collaborate with software and hardware engineers and be mentored by senior validation engineers.
Experience Level
Entry-level internship / co-op. Intended for students; 8–12 month full-time term.
Responsibilities
You will support silicon validation from lab bring-up through data analysis and reporting.
- Measure transmitter and receiver performance of high-speed mixed-signal DSP chips.
- Test digital and analog product features in the lab.
- Assemble and maintain test stations and hardware setups.
- Run, edit, and maintain automation tools and scripts (Python).
- Collaborate with software teams to integrate, test, and develop control and test code.
- Collect validation data, analyze results, and present findings to the team.
Requirements
Minimum practical skills and availability expected for the role.
- Strong programming skills in Python and experience with automation frameworks.
- Good problem-solving skills and experience with design and development workflows.
- Understanding of hardware and software fundamentals, digital communication, and digital signal processing concepts.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Available for a full-time, on-site 8–12 month term in Kanata, ON, Canada.
- Preferred: experience working with automation tools and test station setup.
- May require eligibility for access to export-controlled technology; candidates may be subject to an export license review.
Education Requirements
Currently pursuing a BS or MS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field. Preferred: at least 2+ years of related coursework.
