IC Layout Engineer

Role Summary

Work on full-custom analog and mixed-signal IC layout, from block-level implementation to top-level integration, for production-quality semiconductor designs. Collaborate with circuit designers and other layout engineers to deliver layouts that meet performance, verification, and schedule requirements.

Experience Level

Entry-level — 1–2 years of hands-on IC layout experience. Internship experience may be considered toward this requirement.

Responsibilities

Primary duties include producing and validating layout for analog/mixed-signal blocks and supporting integration activities.

• Design and refine full-custom IC layouts for analog and mixed-signal circuits.
• Perform standard cell and custom layout tasks with growing ownership.
• Support block-level floor-planning, placement, and routing activities.
• Run and debug layout verification checks (DRC, LVS, ERC) and resolve issues.
• Apply layout techniques such as matching, symmetry, shielding, and parasitic optimization.
• Collaborate with circuit designers and other layout teams to ensure correctness and performance.
• Contribute to block-to-top level integration and handoff deliverables.
• Deliver layouts that meet project timelines and quality standards.

Requirements

Must-have skills and experience for successful performance in this role.

• 1–2 years of practical IC layout experience (internship + full-time experience considered).
• Hands-on experience with analog/custom IC layout or standard cell layout.
• Working knowledge of DRC/LVS verification and debugging methodologies.
• Familiarity with layout best practices: matching, symmetry, parasitic awareness, and shielding.
• Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work in fast-paced, team-oriented environments.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Electronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
