IC Layout Engineer

Role Summary

Execute high-quality IC layouts for standard cells, I/O pads, and mixed-signal IP in advanced process nodes, delivering manufacturable designs on project schedules.

Work within the physical implementation/layout team, collaborate across sites, and follow established design and verification flows.

Experience Level

Entry-level / Early career - 2–3 years of hands-on IC layout experience.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include:

• Implement transistor- to block-level layouts applying design rules and advanced process constraints.
• Plan and execute cell- and block-level floorplanning to meet performance, area, and schedule targets.
• Optimize layouts for performance, reliability, and manufacturability, including ESD and latch-up considerations.
• Perform reviews and coordinate with senior layout engineers, verification teams, and cross-site stakeholders to resolve issues and adopt new methodologies.
• Maintain schedule and deliverables for assigned layout tasks.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience:

• Experience: 2–3 years of hands-on IC layout experience.
• Layout fundamentals: Solid grasp of standard cell, memory, or analog/mixed-signal layout basics; familiarity with transistor-level placement.
• Reliability & verification: Practical experience with DRC, LVS, ERC, and antenna checks; familiarity with ESD/latch-up layout techniques.
• Process node exposure: Basic understanding or exposure to advanced/sub-micron nodes (examples: 5nm, 3nm, 2nm, 1.4nm).
• Tools: Proficient with Cadence Virtuoso and Calibre physical verification (DRC, LVS, ERC, Antenna, EM/IR analysis).
• Scripting (nice-to-have): Shell, Python, Tcl, or Cadence SKILL programming is a plus.
• Personal attributes: Quick learner, proactive, team player with good communication and problem-solving skills.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Electronic Engineering.
