Job Title
IC Layout Engineer
Role Summary
Execute high-quality physical layouts for Standard Cells, I/O pads, and Mixed-Signal IP in advanced semiconductor process nodes. Work within project schedules and coordinate with design, verification, and process engineers across sites.
Experience Level
Mid-level β requires several years of hands-on IC layout experience (listed in Education Requirements).
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include transistor-level layout through block-level floorplanning, verification readiness, and cross-team communication.
- Implement layouts that follow design guidelines and advanced process rules for high performance and robustness.
- Plan and execute cell- and block-level floorplans and manage layout schedules independently.
- Perform physical verification readiness and coordinate with verification and process teams.
- Adopt and apply emerging layout methodologies and automation when appropriate.
- Collaborate with engineers across sites to resolve design and manufacturing issues.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and practical abilities; nice-to-have items listed separately.
-
Must-have: Strong experience in Standard Cell, Memory, Full Custom, and/or Analog/Mixed-Signal layout.
-
Must-have: Proficient with Cadence Virtuoso layout tools and Calibre physical verification (DRC, LVS, ERC, Antenna checks, EM/IR analysis).
-
Must-have: Solid understanding of ESD and latch-up considerations for I/O design.
-
Must-have: Familiarity with advanced deep sub-micron process nodes (examples: 5nm, 3nm, 2nm, 1.4nm).
-
Nice-to-have: Scripting skills (Shell, Python, Tcl) or Cadence SKILL programming.
-
Nice-to-have: Ability to adopt new layout methodologies and automation; strong communication and teamwork skills.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Electronic Engineering is specified; the posting also specifies approximately 3 to 4+ years of hands-on IC layout experience. No alternate degree fields or explicit "or equivalent experience" language was provided.
