Job Title
IC Design Verification Engineer
Role Summary
Develop and verify Ethernet/networking IP and network controller IP cores (NETC) for integration into next-generation microcontrollers, processors, and switches. Work within a central R&D organization (AI and Chip Engineering) delivering IP for automotive, industrial, edge and networking markets.
The role focuses on UVM/SystemVerilog-based verification, building verification infrastructure, and ensuring high-quality IP delivery for complex SoC products.
Experience Level
Senior β 10+ years of experience in IP and System on Chip (SoC) product verification and development.
Responsibilities
Primary duties include design and verification of high-performance networking IP and delivery of robust verification environments and tests.
- Architect, design, implement, and verify Ethernet/networking IP for integration into SoCs.
- Design and implement UVM-based verification environments for IP and SoC products.
- Develop directed and constrained-random tests; maintain and extend verification infrastructure.
- Perform trade-off analyses of performance versus implementation complexity.
- Debug test failures, identify root causes, and collaborate with architects and designers to resolve defects.
- Monitor and improve functional and code coverage; adjust tests or constraints to meet coverage goals.
- Plan and coordinate verification activities with IP architecture, design, and verification teams to meet delivery schedules.
- Produce clear technical documentation, including functional and implementation specifications.
- Drive continuous improvement in verification methodology and tools.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience required to perform the role.
-
Must-have: Strong expertise in SystemVerilog and UVM verification methodologies.
-
Must-have: Proven experience architecting and implementing design verification infrastructure and executing full verification cycles for IP/SoC.
-
Must-have: Proficiency with EDA tools and scripting for verification flows (Python, TCL, Perl, Makefile, Shell).
-
Must-have: Experience with revision control systems such as Git.
-
Must-have: Solid understanding of IP & SoC development methodology and verification tools.
-
Must-have: Strong problem-solving, algorithm development, documentation, and communication skills; ability to work in cross-functional teams.
-
Nice-to-have: Familiarity with Formal methods and Functional Safety verification.
-
Nice-to-have: Knowledge of networking protocols (TCP/IP) and experience with routers, bridges, or switches.
-
Nice-to-have: Security and cryptography experience.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
