Job Title
IC Design Engineer IV
Role Summary
Join SRI International's Microcircuit Emulation Center (MEC) in Princeton, NJ to support the Generalized Emulation of Microcircuits (GEM) program. The role delivers replacement microcircuits for obsolete parts, supporting production, redesign, qualification, and sustainment of microcircuits used in weapon systems.
This position is fully on-site at SRI's Princeton facility; relocation assistance is not available.
Experience Level
Senior-level engineer. The role requires substantial prior experience in analog or mixed-signal IC design (see Education Requirements for specified years of experience tied to degree).
Responsibilities
Key technical and project responsibilities include:
- Design, simulate, and verify analog and mixed-signal circuits.
- Review specifications and requirements to determine appropriate emulation designs for original parts.
- Design and verify OpAmps, comparators, regulators, and similar analog blocks.
- Support layout engineers with macro cell layout and ensure correct post-layout functionality.
- Collaborate with test engineers to develop characterization and qualification tests and support production qualification.
- Provide sustainment and production support for emulated microcircuits over product life cycles.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills, constraints, and workplace requirements:
- U.S. citizenship or permanent residency is required.
- Ability and commitment to work on-site at SRI's Princeton, NJ facility.
- Deep practical knowledge of analog design across a range of product types.
- Experience with Bipolar, BiCMOS, and CMOS processes and design across supply ranges typical for legacy parts.
- Proficiency designing amplifiers, comparators, and regulators, and performing design verification.
- Experience interfacing with layout, test, and process engineering teams to close design-to-silicon issues.
- Strong analytical troubleshooting skills and clear verbal/written communication.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with macro cell layout support and post-layout verification.
- Background in microcircuit emulation, obsolescence replacement, or defense-related sustainment projects.
Education Requirements
BS in Electrical Engineering plus 8+ years of relevant analog or mixed-signal IC design experience; OR MS in Electrical Engineering (with thesis) plus 6 years of relevant experience. The posting also requires U.S. citizenship or permanent residency. No other formal certifications were specified.
