I/O Design Engineer
Role Summary
Join Broadcom's Central Engineering Group to design and verify analog and mixed-signal I/O IP for advanced-node products, including AI programs. Work with cross-functional teams on circuit design, modeling, integration and silicon bring-up.
Experience Level
Mid-level β typically requires 6+ years of relevant I/O or analog circuit design experience.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include design, verification and integration activities across I/O and analog circuits:
- Design CMOS I/O, high-precision bandgap references, op-amps, comparators and power-on-reset circuits.
- Run AC/DC, signal integrity, jitter and power simulations; validate performance via SPICE/Spectre.
- Perform transistor reliability and EMIR analysis.
- Collaborate with layout teams to oversee physical design and verification.
- Develop Verilog, Synopsys Liberty and IBIS models for IP integration.
- Create and maintain technical documentation: datasheets, application notes and integration guides.
- Support chip-level integration and silicon bring-up for test chips and customer products.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience:
- 6+ years of I/O or analog circuit design experience.
- Deep proficiency with Cadence Virtuoso schematic/layout and SPICE/Spectre simulation flows.
- Knowledge of I/O protocols such as GPIO, I2C, I3C, eMMC, RGMII and SPMI.
- Familiarity with ESD, EMI and signal integrity considerations.
- Experience with advanced CMOS FinFET and GAA nodes, including process limitations and PPA tradeoffs.
Education Requirements
MS or PhD in Electrical Engineering. (No alternative degree or "equivalent experience" language specified.)
