HW Security Design Engineer
Role Summary
Member of the uArchitecture/Design team responsible for interpreting high-level specifications for internal security IPs and producing micro-architectures and design documentation consumed by design and verification teams.
Coordinate with architects, design, and verification engineers to deliver production-ready security IP designs according to chip schedules.
Experience Level
Senior β role expects 10+ years of experience in digital logic design and microarchitecture definition; see Education Requirements for degree-based minimums.
Responsibilities
Translate specifications into implementable micro-architectures, produce design documentation, and support implementation and schedule planning.
- Work with architects to interpret high-level specifications for security IPs.
- Define micro-architectures and deliver detailed micro-architecture documents on schedule.
- Coordinate with design and DV teams to validate document quality and usability.
- Implement (design/code) the design when required.
- Track IP updates and chip schedules for effort and schedule planning.

Core technical requirements and preferred skills.
Must-have:
- 10+ years experience with digital logic design and micro-architecture definition.
- Hands-on VLSI/ASIC design and implementation experience.
- Familiarity with AHB, AXI, or APB protocols.
- Experience creating and maintaining technical documentation for digital designs.
Nice-to-have:
- In-depth knowledge of AES/SHA algorithms and key-handling principles or high-throughput cryptographic architectures.
- Experience with FIPS or Common Criteria certification.
- Prior implementation experience with AHB/AXI/APB protocols in silicon.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Science, Engineering, or related field plus 6+ years of ASIC design/verification/validation/integration experience; OR Master's degree plus 5+ years; OR PhD plus 4+ years. Fields referenced: Science, Engineering, or related technical fields.
