HSIO Validation Engineer - Data Center GPU

Role Summary

Work in the Data Center GPU Group on High Speed IO interfaces (e.g., PCIe, AMD Infinity Fabric) across pre-silicon readiness, post-silicon bring-up and validation, device interoperability, and customer deployment. Focus areas include digital IP controllers, link protocols, HSIO performance, and RAS.

Role is based in Austin, TX with a hybrid schedule. This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include developing validation tests, debugging HSIO links, and delivering program milestones and customer deliverables.

  • Develop functional validation procedures for PCIe Gen5 interfaces (or similar).
  • Perform hands-on debug of PCIe state machines, LTSSM issues, logic analyzers, and exercisers.
  • Test and characterize HSIO performance and power features; produce metrics for stress and effectiveness.
  • Develop and maintain automation using Python.
  • Implement improvements to reduce time-to-quality and time-to-root-cause.
  • Collaborate with external partners and customers on tools development and interoperability debug.
  • Produce technical reports to communicate program status and drive to meet milestones.

Requirements

Must-have skills and preferred qualifications are listed below.

  • Deep expertise in HSIO link controllers, protocol behavior, traffic, and device interoperability.
  • Comfortable working in Linux-based environments for data center products.
  • Strong debugging and analytical skills for test creation and root-cause analysis.
  • Proficient in Python for automation and test development.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills; self-starter capable of driving tasks to completion.
  • Preferred: experience with PCIe Gen5 protocol, performance, and power features.
  • Preferred: experience with SoC digital logic design for link controllers and traffic arbitration.
  • Preferred: experience with system error handling and RAS for HSIO.
  • Preferred: experience with interoperability testing across roots, endpoints, switches, re-timers, and related devices.
  • Preferred: experience in the data center industry.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
