Job Title
HSIO/DDR Bench Test Engineer
Role Summary
Post-silicon engineering role responsible for developing and executing bench test methodologies and characterization for high-speed interfaces and DDR subsystems on advanced SoCs. Primary focus is electrical validation, first-silicon bring-up and debug, and resolving customer hardware issues.
Works within the hardware engineering/post-silicon team and collaborates closely with IC design, systems engineering, customer engineering, and hardware applications to qualify designs, diagnose PI/SI problems, and deliver documented test results.
Experience Level
Entry-level β 1+ year of relevant bench test or characterization experience preferred.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include bench test development, characterization, bring-up and cross-functional debug.
- Define and execute test methodologies and characterization plans for high-speed interfaces and memory subsystems.
- Characterize and validate interfaces such as PCIe, USB3, UFS, DisplayPort, MIPI (DSI/CSI), PLLs, LP-DDR and PC-DDR subsystems (DRAM, controller, PHY, IOs, clocking, delay circuits, PDN).
- Perform first-silicon bring-up, root-cause debug, and electrical compliance validation on devices fabricated by external foundries.
- Analyze parametric performance across operating conditions and configurations; produce technical data analysis and reports.
- Assist in hardware design reviews and debug power integrity (PI) and signal integrity (SI) issues related to package and board design.
- Develop and maintain lab setups and test automation for repeatable characterization and production debug.
- Work with cross-functional and customer teams to troubleshoot customer issues and support RMA/debug in time-critical situations.
- Document test plans, procedures, and results; communicate findings to engineering stakeholders.
Requirements
Concise list of must-have and desirable skills derived from the posting.
-
Must-have: Fluent English (>95% verbal and written); strong verbal and written communication, organization and documentation skills; ability to work independently and in a team; strong problem-solving and debugging ability; 1+ year of relevant experience preferred; experience with ASIC device-level characterization or bench testing.
-
Nice-to-have: Experience with high-speed test concepts (eye diagrams, differential signaling, jitter analysis, SI); familiarity with SERDES characterization and transmitter/receiver blocks; familiarity with DDR2/3/4/5 and LPDDR protocols and timing; hands-on experience with lab equipment (oscilloscopes, TDR/VNA, J-BERT); experience with Python or C# for test automation; familiarity with board design concepts (schematic review, layout best practices); understanding of VLSI, CMOS analog/digital, mixed-signal circuits and semiconductor physics.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Engineering, or a related field is required. A Master's degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering or related field is preferred. (Degree fields and preferences were specified in the original posting.)
