Job Title

HSIO Bench Test Engineer

Role Summary

Post-silicon engineering role focused on developing and executing test methodologies and characterization for high-speed interfaces and memory subsystems on SOCs. The engineer performs silicon bring-up, electrical compliance validation, parametric data analysis, and debug of power and signal integrity issues on package and boards.

Works with IC design, systems, customer engineering, and hardware applications teams to qualify silicon, resolve customer issues, and deliver test solutions for production and validation.

Experience Level

Mid-level. The posting prefers ~3+ years of related experience but indicates fresh graduates are welcome to apply.

Responsibilities

Deliver hands-on test, characterization and debug for high-speed interfaces and memory subsystems; prepare and document results.

  • Define and execute test plans and characterization for high-speed SERDES interfaces (PCIe, USB3, UFS, DP, MIPI DSI/CSI) and PLLs.
  • Characterize and optimize LPDDR/PC-DDR subsystem components (DRAM, DRAM controller, PHY IP, I/Os, clocking, delay circuits, power distribution).
  • Perform first-silicon bring-up, board bring-up, debugging, and electrical compliance verification.
  • Analyze parametric performance across operating conditions and configurations; produce technical reports.
  • Investigate and resolve power integrity (PI) and signal integrity (SI) issues related to package and board design.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (IC design, systems, customer engineering) on root cause analysis and customer/RMA issues.
  • Develop and maintain lab test setups and automation for repeatable measurements and characterization.

Requirements

Core technical skills and experience required or strongly preferred. Degrees are listed in the Education Requirements section below and are not repeated here.

  • Must-have: Knowledge of VLSI technologies, CMOS analog and digital circuits, mixed-signal concepts, and semiconductor device behavior.
  • Must-have: Experience or strong understanding of high-speed test and characterization (eye diagrams, differential signaling, jitter analysis, signal integrity).
  • Must-have: Strong debugging and problem-solving skills; ability to analyze measurement data and produce clear documentation.
  • Must-have: Ability to work with cross-functional teams and communicate technical issues clearly in verbal and written form.
  • Nice-to-have: Familiarity with SERDES transmitter/receiver characterization, DDR2/3/4/5 and LPDDR protocols and timing, and ASIC device-level characterization.
  • Nice-to-have: Hands-on experience with lab equipment: oscilloscopes, TDR/VNA, J-BERT or similar bit-error-rate testers.
  • Nice-to-have: Experience with test automation using Python, C#, or similar scripting languages.
  • Nice-to-have: Familiarity with board design concepts (schematic review, layout best practices) and system-level validation.

Education Requirements

Minimum: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field. Preferred: Master’s degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering. The posting also indicates applicants with relevant practical experience or fresh graduates may be considered.
