Job Title

High-Speed Transceiver Application Engineer

Role Summary

Perform system-level validation, characterization, and bring-up of high-speed transceivers and modules. Work with hardware, firmware, DSP and manufacturing teams to develop tests, automate data collection, debug link and signal-integrity issues, and drive products to production readiness.

This role supports reliable high-speed interconnects used in data-center and networking products.

Experience Level

Mid-level; typically 3–7 years of relevant experience expected.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include:

  • Design and execute system-level tests for functional regression and performance across multiple protocols and use cases.
  • Develop automation scripts for test execution, data collection, and analysis (Python or similar).
  • Perform environmental and reliability stress tests such as thermal cycling, voltage margining, and soak tests.
  • Analyze test results, identify root causes, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement fixes.
  • Support platform bring-up, firmware validation, and vendor qualification for high-speed modules.
  • Contribute to DSP bring-up and tuning by writing low-level signal-processing and link-optimization code.
  • Debug signal integrity and link performance issues using VNA, BERT, oscilloscopes, and similar instruments.

Requirements

Must-have skills and experience:

  • Hands-on experience testing high-speed transceivers (QSFP-DD, OSFP, AEC) and using lab instruments such as oscilloscopes, BERTs, and VNAs.
  • Automation scripting experience in Python or a similar language for test control and data analysis.
  • Experience with environmental and reliability testing (thermal cycling, voltage margining, soak tests).
  • Strong signal integrity debugging and root-cause analysis skills.
  • Familiarity with DSP architecture and ability to write bring-up/tuning code.
  • Strong problem-solving ability and effective cross-functional communication.

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience with firmware validation, platform bring-up, and vendor qualification.
  • Prior work with data-center networking protocols and optical/electrical module qualification.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's or higher degree in Electrical Engineering, Communications Engineering, Physics, or a related field.
