High Speed IP PHY/USB Applications Principal Engineer
Role Summary
Provide technical application support to customers integrating Synopsys DesignWare USB mixed-signal PHY IP, guiding integration from initial bring-up through silicon debug. Work closely with the Korea AE team and Synopsys R&D to resolve complex integration issues and shorten time-to-silicon.
Experience Level
Senior-level role. The posting requests 10–20+ years of ASIC design, verification, or SoC integration experience.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include technical customer support, debug, and cross-team collaboration during integration and bring-up.
- Support customer integration of DesignWare USB mixed-signal PHY IP from integration through silicon bring-up and debug.
- Troubleshoot issues across synthesis, static timing analysis (STA), design-for-test (DFT), and clock domain crossing (CDC) in USB PHY and SoC contexts.
- Advise on USB 2.0, USB 3.x, and Type-C implementation trade-offs and define bring-up/debug plans to reduce time-to-silicon.
- Escalate and coordinate with R&D and product teams for root-cause analysis and timely closure on complex issues.
- Provide cross-IP support for other high-speed interface PHYs (e.g., MIPI, PCIe, HDMI), excluding DDR.
- Deliver technical presentations and integration best practices during design reviews and program checkpoints.
- Occasional travel to customer sites in Korea and the region to support critical milestones.
Requirements
Must-have qualifications and preferred skills.
Must-have:
- 10–20+ years of ASIC design, verification, or SoC integration experience.
- Strong working knowledge of synthesis, static timing analysis (STA), design-for-test (DFT), and clock domain crossing (CDC).
- Ability to work independently and drive ambiguous, customer-driven issues to resolution.
- Excellent communication skills in Korean and English.
- Willingness to travel occasionally within Korea and the region.
Nice-to-have:
- Practical USB PHY integration experience (USB 2.0, USB 3.x, Type-C).
- Experience with other high-speed interfaces (MIPI, PCIe, HDMI) to support cross-IP coverage.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering.
