Job Title
High Speed Analog I/O Designer
Role Summary
Design and optimize high-speed interface buffer chips (DDR/LP5/5X/6), chiplet I/Os and receivers in advanced FinFET process nodes. Work with chip teams to define architectures, validate performance through simulation and silicon analysis, and improve power, area and reliability.
Experience Level
Senior-level; requires at least 10 years of relevant analog design experience.
Responsibilities
Primary duties include architecture selection, circuit design, validation, layout oversight and silicon debug for high-speed I/O solutions.
- Collaborate with chip teams to derive specifications and identify circuit architectures.
- Design, simulate and optimize high-speed DDR and chiplet I/O circuits.
- Develop and enhance transmitter and receiver circuits (CTLE, VGA, DFE, slicers) with attention to sensitivity, linearity and power.
- Investigate architectures to resolve bottlenecks and improve power, area and performance.
- Oversee physical layout to minimize parasitics and mitigate process variation effects.
- Perform thorough simulations, validate designs, troubleshoot silicon, and implement corrective actions.
- Produce clear, detailed design documentation and reports.
- Analyze customer silicon data and recommend design enhancements.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience (education summarized below).
- 10+ years of analog design experience focused on high-speed RX and analog front-end circuits.
- Experience with FinFET process technologies.
- Deep expertise in high-speed DDR I/O and chip-to-chip interface design and optimization.
- Strong knowledge of receiver circuits (CTLE, DFE, FEE) and transmitter techniques (FIR filters, slew-rate control, voltage/current-mode drivers).
- Understanding of design-for-reliability (EM, IR, aging, self-heating) and layout-induced effects (matching, proximity, reliability).
- Familiarity with custom digital high-speed logic paths (Serializer/Deserializer and related blocks).
- Proficiency with analog design and simulation tools such as Cadence Virtuoso, Maestro, Spectre and HSPICE.
- Knowledge of signal integrity, timing analysis and power management.
- Strong analytical, communication and teamwork skills.
Education Requirements
Master's or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related field.
